multiplayter beta. The Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta testing begins June 28, 2011 and will be free to all PlayStation Plus members.(If you're not a PlayStation Plus member or your PlayStation Plus trial is about to run out, you can also gain access to the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta by purchasing a specially marked copy of inFAMOUS 2
).Anyways though, here's a closer look at some of the many new improvements and features coming to the Uncharted 3 multiplayer mode.
As for matchmaking, there will apparently be an improved matchmaking system based around a "join in" style setup rather than having to wait for a match to finish like you did in Uncharted 2
. Also, a new "buddy system" will be introduced that will apparently allow players to respawn off of their buddies in a fashion that sounds like it might be something similar to the clan spawning setup in Battlefield: Bad Company 2
.Also on the topic of matches, when one team is being completely dominated by the other, there will be a new power play mode that will offer the losing team bonuses to help even things back out. On the other hand, when games are super tight at the end, Uncharted 3 will offer a new overtime mode that will, when necessary, continue on into a sudden death (no respawning) overtime mode if the first overtime was still unresolved.
Another new feature in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer will be an all new three team deathmatch (2 vs 2 vs 2) as well as a free-for-all mode.
Uncharted 3 will also be introducing character customization to the multiplayer so that players can choose and customize hero and villain skins from hundreds of shirts and pants. On top of that, players will also be able to create customized emblems that will be displayed on their character.
Weapons will be customizable too, and will not just affect the appearance of the weapon but will also affect the functionality of the weapon as well - precision scopes, larger ammo clips, etc..
You will also be able to sprint in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer (something you couldn't do in Uncharted 2).
So that's basically it in a nutshell, but with all the changes, Naughty Dog assures us that it is still Uncharted at the heart of it, and not everything from Uncharted 2 is being replaced for Uncharted 3. Some of the features from Uncharted 2 are in fact being brought back and will be thrown into the mix alongside the new ones.
