Play As Catwoman AND Robin In Batman: Arkham City

Fans of Batman: Arkham Asylum have been scouring the web for more info on what to expect from the sequel, Arkham City, ever since the games developer, Rocksteady, left us all waiting in exited anticipation with nothing more than a teaser trailer a couple of years ago.

Since then much more information has come to light. For starters we know that, not only will Catwoman be featured in the game, along with

Two-Face, a re-imagined Penguin, and other  lesser known characters such as Hugo Strange, but players will also get the chance to play as Catwoman.

There's also a totally new look for the Joker's main squeeze, Harley Quinn, who has not only been given a costume make-over, but also a has new voice actress. (Also on that topic, this is allegedly Mark Hamill's final go with the Joker. Which if true, is a bummer for fans, cause his voice has come to be the quintessential voice for the Joker). Anyways, with all that being said, the speculation has also led to rumors about the possible inclusion and playability of Robin.

Apparently, the rumors are true. Robin will be included in the game, but it looks like he will only be playable on 2 challenge maps - and only if you pre-order a copy of the game through Best Buy.

(For those who might not be familiar with the idea, it has become an ongoing trend for some of the major Retail Outlets (i.e. Amazon, Walmart, GameStop, Best Buy, etc.) to offer special add-on DLC (downloadable content) such as special characters, additional maps, or other unlocks to players who pre-order games through their stores or sites. For instance, GameStop is offering a Joker's Carnival Challenge map as a pre-order bonus instead of Robin. I think most gamers would agree though, that when done right, it's actually a pretty cool trend. It kinda makes where you buy the game part of the experience, and turns the purchasing process into a bit of a game in itself. Unless of course you've only got gift cards to one particular store, but that's beside the point.)

And if all that isn't enough to get excited about, here's a look at some screenshots showcasing a few of the games amazing characters and graphics.

So what other surprises do Rocksteady have in store for us...I guess we'll just have to keep waiting to find out. And there's still plenty of time between now and October for them to keep throwing us curveballs. But in the mean time, amidst all the guessing and wild speculations, one thing's for sure - this game just keeps looking better and better.
